I Know My Own Heart

Presented by DAYMS

Internationally acclaimed Emma Donoghue’s Lesbian Regency Romance: As the heiress to her uncle’s estate, Anne Lister broke all the rules of Regency ladyhood. She was known for a flamboyant devotion to women that exceeded the ‘romantic friendship considered normal for the time. The play explores her affairs with three women over ten years and her choices in a society based on rules and silences.

DAYMS the Musical workshop has been pleased to produce the ‘new director’ slot in the Festival’s programme. This year we return with another Emma Donoghue play following the success of Philippa Alford’s world premiere interpretation of Don’t Die Wondering last year. We are delighted to introduce Clare Mc Quaid – our assistant director on Zorba (Liberty Hall Feb 06), in her directorial debut, in a theatre called after Jim Larkin. We presented the world premiere of Larkin the Musical – the first ever staged production in the new Liberty Hall theatre in 2002. Clare’s direction is based on some original concepts developed by Caroline Staunton.

Dates: 1st – 6th May
Time: 8.00pm (Monday to Saturday) 3.00pm (Saturday Matinee)
