Outreach/Visibility Projects
The Festival also co-sponsored two significant visibility events in 2005. We co-produced Eurovision for Asia, staged in the Olympia Theatre and broadcast on RTE, in aid of the Tsunami victims in South East Asia. Scene City Magazine and the Festival co produced a community wide event on October 28th called Mr Gay Dublin 2006. This event brought together the biggest gathering of commercial and community organisations ever to raise money for Round Tower Housing Association which provides independent living spaces for people with HIV/AIDS and the BeLong To youth development project.18 finalists fundraised and competed in the final, which was presented by Brendan Courtney, and held in The George.
The winner is to become the face of the 2006 Festival and he is Keith Kearney (Mr George) a 24 year old carpenter from Castleknock. Runners Up included Thomas Creighton (Mr Men United), Jonathan Best (Mr Spirit), Mark Burns (Mr Tease Mr Photogenic) and Nigel Pitt (Mr Boilerhouse best Fundraiser).
